Fall Season Launch Party
Screening:

Come celebrate the launch of the 2006 Streets To Screens Fall Season with a free outdoor* screening at Bellevue Square Park, in the heart of Kensington Market (Augusta, one block north of Dundas. See map here.) We'll be presenting a selection of seven family-friendly films courtesy of the National Film Board:

All films will be projected from the Sumkidz Schoolbus. This eco-friendly schoolbus uses waste vegetable oil to power its Biodiesel engine and solar panels to power the digital projector and sound system. Bring a blanket or lawnchairs and arrive early to get the best seats!

* If there is heavy rain or thundershowers, the screenings will take place indoors at our afterparty venue, Supermarket (268 Augusta), at 8pm.

After the screening, join us at Supermarket, just up the street at 268 Augusta, half a block south of College Street. We'll be showing a sneak preview of the amazing lineup of films we have in store for the fall season, as DJs Earl Grey and King-Stun spin a funky mix of soulful grooves. $3 cover or PWYC . All proceeds benefit the Toronto Public Space Committee.

Come join us at the Toronto Free Gallery for our third and final night of free fall season screenings courtesy of our friends at the National Film Board of Canada. The centerpiece of our screening is Lewis Mumford on the City, Part 6: The City and the Future, the final installment of a groundbreaking six-part series featuring urban thinker Lewis Mumford. Mumford was an outspoken critic of Jane Jacobs and the two sparred often. It's interesting to watch Mumford during his heyday and see how his vision fares more than forty years later. Winter Season Schedule

The winter season will launch on November 23 at the Bloor Cinema with the Canadian Premiere of Barbara Ettinger's film Two Square Miles. Also screening will be Cavan Young's documentary short about Dufferin Grove Park, Citizen Z, as part of our Grassroots Democracy programme — see below or click here for details.

Our regular screenings at the Bloor Cinema will be followed by Q&A panel discussions with invited guests. All screenings are fundraisers for the Toronto Public Space Committee. We're working on some special presentations so check back here for more details throughout the winter season!
